Week Six

After some deep thought I shifted my idea so that now the iphone serves as a cage.

Ironically enough I did use Facebook and Google a lot when developing ideas and looking for suitable tag lines or inspiration.

During our last session of class I went and placed my A2 size poster on the wall for some last minute critique. I made sure to get feedback from both tutors and classmates. In the end All I had to do was some minor touch ups and then I was ready to print.

Week Five

Taking away from what I learned in critique I developed my idea further and created the image below

"Don't make it harder than it needs to be."

I was hoping that the image would convey the serious tone of isolation that was going for. I added the "swipe to unlock" over the cage so that was a visual connection from an Iphone to "unlocking" the cage.

However, after a discussion with the people in my table they pointed out to me that ideas were conflicting as adding the swipe lock implied that you had to use your phone to free yourself, which was the complete opposite direction I was going for.

Also after some consultation with the tutor I also discovered that my tag line was too wordy and did not collaborate well with the image.

Week Four

Critique

After presenting my 4 poster concepts, I was able to obtain a useful amount of feed back from my peers and tutors.

Below are my 4 poster concepts ranked (by classmates) on its effectiveness.
LAST
THIRD
SECOND
FIRST

Even though it was the easiest to read I'll have to refrain myself from creating something less obvious, keeping rhetoric in mind. What I can take away from this however is that idea of social media "restraining" or "trapping" people from their day to day lives.
